Users of the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 are reporting an unexpected issue – the paint peeling off the body of the foldable phone. Reddit users have shared images of small sections of paint coming off, near areas like the power button and the top left corner of the rear panel. This has sparked concerns among consumers who have purchased the high-end device.
Samsung has suggested that the paint peeling issue may be caused by the use of incompatible third-party products with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company specifically points to the use of “high-speed third-party chargers” that are not properly grounded. It is stated that current leakage from these chargers can affect the anodisation of the phone, leading to delamination of the paint. Anodisation is the process that provides a decorative and corrosion-resistant finish to the metal body of the handset.
In addition to third-party chargers, Samsung also warns against the use of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) massagers while using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company recommends keeping the phone away from the body when using such products to prevent the paint from coming off. However, Samsung mentions that reputable third-party chargers that adhere to the Qi standard and come from reputable companies should be safe to use with any Samsung handset.
To avoid the paint peeling problem, Samsung suggests using an authentic Samsung charger designed specifically for the Samsung device. While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not come with a charger in the box, users can purchase a 25W adaptor and a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable from the Samsung India website for a separate cost. The handset is offered in three colour options – Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow, and is available for purchase through the official Samsung website, online retailers, and offline stores.
Pricing and Variants
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is priced starting at Rs. 1,64,999 in India for the 12GB + 256GB option. The 12GB + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB variants are priced at Rs. 1,76,999 and Rs. 2,00,999, respectively. Despite the premium pricing, users are experiencing issues with the paint peeling off, raising concerns about the overall quality and durability of the device.
