AlgoBharat, the Indian arm of the Algorand Foundation based in Singapore, is gearing up for the second edition of its Web3-focused program in India, known as the ‘Road to Impact’. This initiative is designed to bring together Web3 developers and startup teams to compete for industry-level mentoring and workshops. The goal of this program, according to AlgoBharat, is to enhance India’s digital infrastructure by working closely with the country’s Web3 talent.
During the first edition of the program launched in 2023, cities like Surat and Trivandrum emerged as key hubs for developers creating blockchain solutions tailored to local industries. Nikhil Varma, the India Tech Lead at Algorand Foundation, highlighted that Indian developers are exploring various use cases, including supply chain management, sustainability, healthcare, and MSME financing. The ‘Road to Impact’ initiative focuses on long-term engagement to help developers advance and market their skills effectively.
Rewarding Innovation and Skill Development
Participants in the ‘Road to Impact’ program will have the opportunity to compete for financial rewards and ALGO credits for mainnet deployment support. The top prize for the competition includes $10,000 and 2,000 Algos in mainnet credits. Additionally, the latest iteration of the program introduces a ‘developer track’ aimed at enhancing the skills of developers to meet the growing demand for Web3 creators globally.
In the ‘developer track’, the top ten winners will receive cash rewards, with the maximum prize set at $1,000 and 100 Algos in credit for mainnet deployment support. The focus of the program is not only on rewarding innovation but also on upskilling developers to meet the evolving needs of the Web3 ecosystem. The AlgoBharat team emphasized the importance of building a scalable ecosystem for real-world blockchain solutions, aligning with India’s vision for a digitally empowered society by 2047.
Engagement and Outreach
AlgoBharat has been actively engaging with eligible individuals and projects in cities like Indore, Surat, Delhi, Trivandrum, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kolkata since August. The program is set to kick off at the Algorand India Summit in Hyderabad on December 7 and 8, bringing together developers, entrepreneurs, executives, investors, policy officials, and thought leaders from across India.
The initiative by Algorand through AlgoBharat underscores the commitment to nurturing Web3 talent in India. Anil Kakni, the head of AlgoBharat, has previously expressed the platform’s desire to elevate India’s position in fostering Web3 talent. Furthermore, AlgoBharat has collaborated with the Telangana government to educate farmers on eco-friendly farming practices using blockchain technology, showcasing a broader impact beyond the tech industry.
The ‘Road to Impact’ program by AlgoBharat serves as a platform for Web3 developers in India to showcase their skills, receive valuable mentorship, and contribute to the growth of the digital ecosystem in the country. By fostering innovation, skill development, and industry-level engagement, AlgoBharat is playing a significant role in empowering India’s Web3 talent and driving the country towards global leadership in technology.
