Las Tres Sisters, previously known as Sisters, is an adventure-comedy film set to be released in theaters in the first quarter of 2025. The movie follows the story of three sisters reuniting after years of estrangement to fulfill their grandmother’s pilgrimage through rural Mexico. The eldest sister, Maria, played by Marta Méndez Cross, discovers she has breast cancer and decides to embark on a journey with her sisters Lucia and Sofia, played by Valeria Maldonado and Virginia Novello, respectively, in search of a miracle. The trio, with an old map and no hiking experience, face hilarious and touching adventures on the “camino.”
Mexican filmmaker Mar Novo directs the script written by Novello, Méndez Cross, Maldonado, and Youssef Delara. The film is a collaboration of talents, with Cristo Fernández (known for Ted Lasso and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) serving as an executive producer through his Espectro MX Films production banner. Denisse Prieto, along with Novello, Cross, and Maldonado, are producers, with additional executive producers Gustavo Castillion and Gonzalo Ruiz de Velasco. The heartwarming behind-the-scenes story of how the film came together mirrors the emotional journey portrayed on screen.
Las Tres Sisters has already garnered recognition in the industry, receiving the LFI Works in Progress Initiative Award presented by the Latino Film Institute and supported by Amazon MGM Studios. The film was also showcased at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival’s inaugural LALIFF Film Market. The diverse familial team of filmmakers worked tirelessly in various roles as producers, actors, and creators, bringing this touching story to life.
